銅包鋼線是銅的高電導率和鋼的高強度，而開發出來的新型的高電導率、高強度導線，具有以下優勢：
      1.內芯為鋼，外層為銅，是鋼和銅的雙金屬復合材料，它既具有鋼的高強度，亦具有銅的低電阻的性能：
   2.銅包鋼線的材料成本較銅線低

銅包鋼主要用于有線電視用戶線同軸電纜內導體材料，平行雙芯電話線用戶通信線的導體材料，計算機局域網、接入網電纜、野外用電纜內導體材料，各種電子元器件的接插件，電話線路的架空線，電氣化鐵路、軌道交通線路接觸網架空線，電力電纜屏蔽線，電力工業接地棒等等。
